Blanketing Fort Worth with Love

Blanketing Fort Worth with Love

The state of Texas is populated with approximately 7.6 million children according to a recent report published by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, with an estimated 437,000 removed from their homes last year. A group of residents from Stevenson Oaks hope to make a difference in the lives of the children in the Fort Worth area facing this, or any number of stressful circumstances.

A resident group called the SVO Blanketeers worked with the Trinity Valley Quilting Guild to make quilts and small bags to donate to the Fort Worth Police Department. The small bags are filled with a quilt, small stuffed toy and coloring books. Area police officers are encouraged to carry several of the bags on patrol to distribute when necessary. Police can use these comfort items to bring calm to a child enduring stress. The resident body gathered for a workday to stuff over 250 bags to blanket the children of Fort Worth in need with love.
